Starlight Therapies Newsletter July 09

Welcome to the new site. I am quite pleased with the new look. It still needs tweeking a little, but we are getting there. I am hoping to have a newsletter ready for you all to read bi-monthly with a little news about what I have been doing and a new essential oil for you to learn about.

The picture above is a little passageway in my garden which looked lovely early summer, but of course with all the rain, it's looking very green, although the flowers are getting a beating. As I type this, the rain is pouring down on this Sunday evening bouncing off the road outside.

I have just come back from a few days in Glastonbury, and the weather held out for us. If any of you have ever been it's an interesting place where anything and everything can be seen. You should go there at least once to experience it. It is the home of Starchild Oils and Incense, so a visit there is a must. Their oils are lovely and they have shelves upon shelves of oils, candles, burners and incense. I came back with some to burn in the therapy room for clearing the energy.

So summer has deserted us for a while yet but this months oil is Geranium, I have some bright red ones flowering at the moment growing in the garden.

Geranium  (Pelargonium Graveolens)

Wonderful oil for ladies and is sometimes known as the poor-mans Rose oil mid-priced it's a useful one to have handy.

It can help with moodswings, mental fatigue and physical fatigue, but is excellent for aiding healing cuts and inflammed skin. Also for dry skin, itching, cystitis, boils and absesses.

For menopausal women it's great to ease night-sweats and hot-flushes and can be used for PMS each month.

For mind and spirit Geranium is wonderful to calm anxiety as it promotes calm, also nervous exhaustion due to stress and overwork.

It's a great oil for blending with others and works well with Lavender, Sandalwood and Orange among others.

Geranium can be used in an oil burner (up to 4 drops in the top with water) to enhance a room or used in a carrier oil for massage, in the bath or for inhalation.

Never use oils neat on the skin as they are far too powerful-they must always be diluted in a carrier oil .

When buying oils always buy from a reputable seller. Never buy cheap oils from the supermarket as these are low-grade oils and could cause skin irritation, and will not have the best therapeutic value.

That's all for now, so enjoy what warm-weather we get, till next time.

Pat
